Objectives & Responsibilities of Internal Committee/Internal Complaints Committee (IC/ICC):

R.V.R & J.C College of Engineering constituted women's cell as LAC (Lady Advisory Committee) and has been functioning in formal sense since 2003 to educate women on independence and right to work with dignity (as equal partners) in a safe and secure working environment. It is reconstituted as LA&IC (Lady Advisory and Internal Committee) from 2019. As per vide order dated 12-05-2023 by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, it is reconstituted as IC/ICC(Internal Committee/Internal Complaints Committee) from July, 2023, to address issues and complaints regarding sexual harassment.

Objectives:

  1. The main objective is to implement the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act, 2013.
  2. To promote an environment free of sexual harassment and other acts of gender-based discrimination at the College that ensures gender equality and equal opportunities.
  3. To prevent sexual harassment and to promote the general well-being of female students, teaching, and non-teaching women staff of the College.

Constitution of IC/ICC as per PoSH Act, 2013:

2. 2 Members (minimum) From amongst employees committed to the cause of women/having legal knowledge/experience in social work.
3. Member From amongst NGO/associations committed to the cause of women or a person familiar with the issue of sexual harassment.

  • ii. Chairperson - Senior woman faculty
  • iii. At least two teaching staff and one non-teaching staff members - Two of these shall be women.
  • iv. Convener of Grievance Redressal Cell
  • v. Directors of the Institute
  • vi. One Professional Counsellor
  • vii. One External Legal expert
  • viii. Convener of Ladies Hostel
  • ix. Two students - one Masters Student and one UG student - one of these students shall be woman.

Activities of the Committee

The objectives of the committee are to address women's problems, provide a platform to express ideas and concerns, disseminate knowledge about rights and laws related to women, and enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of girl students and women staff.

  1. The events such as Quiz, Miss-Ethnic, Role-Play, and Elocution Competitions on Women Empowerment and Great Women Personalities are conducted. The programme on "Gender Sensitization and Social Responsibility" was conducted.
  2. The guest lectures like "Awareness on Sexual Harassment at Work Place", "Theme: Laws related to Women", "Cervical Cancer Awareness", "An Orientation on Behavior and Discipline of Girl Students", "Violence against women-Safeguards-awareness of women laws", "Micro Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation", "First Aid and Basic Life Support", "Knowledge, Attitude and Practice for a Healthy Lifestyle", "Stress Control", "Capacity Building of Women through Skills", "Health and Happiness" were arranged.
  3. Every year, "International Women's Day" celebrations are conducted.
