The Physical Education Department of RVR&JC College of Engineering has been established in 1985. It took the responsibility not only to provide the necessary infrastructure that helps the students to inculcate good habit of playing games but also to develop sportsmanship and comradeship. The college has demarked 13.5 acres of land for outdoor games including Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Ball Badminton, Throw Ball, Tennikoit, and a multipurpose ground for Softball, Football, and Hockey. The college is also equipped with indoor games in an area of nearly 17,120 sq. ft., furnished with a gymnasium, accommodating indoor games like Table Tennis, Carroms, Chess, etc., to hone skills in these games and enhance the physical fitness of students and faculty. Annual intramural tournaments in various games and sports are conducted for students as well as for staff, with prizes distributed during the annual day celebrations. From the inception of the college, the Department has been proudly associated with conducting the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) Inter-Collegiate Tournaments.
The college teams in Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, and Tennis have won in most tournaments respectively. To date, over one hundred and ten students of the college have represented the ANU Inter-University Tournaments and brought laurels to the Institute. The Physical Directors of the Department have been consistently appointed as Manager cum Coaches for ANU Inter-University Tournaments and regularly appointed as members of the Advisory Committee for A.N. University and other tournaments held in our State, Andhra Pradesh. In the future, the Department will continue to show the same enthusiasm to encourage and groom students with highly motivated sportsmanship.
